Overview

The PA SHPO is currently developing a new education and training program that will launched in early 2018.  We are excited to provide new and interesting content, revamp existing programs, and create new opportunities for Pennsylvanians to learn more about historic preservation and how it benefits our lives, communities, and economy.

Please continue to check the PHMC website for information about education and training opportunities.  You can also sign-up to receive the PA SHPO's monthly education, training, and opportunities newsletter at www.pahistoricpreservation.com.

Cultural Resources Essentials Series

The Cultural Resources Essentials (CRE) four-part series was launched in 2008. The program was designed to bring all the Pennsylvania Historic Preservation Office's partners together in an effort to collaborate, learn from one each other, and determine ways in which federal, state and local programs can intersect to help Pennsylvania's communities preserve their historic character. This series also provided an opportunity for the SHPO staff and our constituents to meet, discuss the SHPO programs and documentation requirements, and learn from each other.  Over the course of this inaugural series, the Essentials workshops have brought together over 400 individuals who play a role in Cultural Resource Management.

This program has been suspended.  If you have questions about the CRE series or need confirmation of attending previous sessions, please contact Shelby Splain, Education & Outreach Coordinator at ssplain@pa.gov or 717-574-8232.
